Carved ice
Dimensions variable
2008

This public art installation was commissioned by the Bonifacio Arts Foundation. It refers to the historical significance of the Bonifacio High Street commercial center, which is named after Philippine hero Andres Bonifacio and was formerly the site of the Philippine Army Headquarters. As the ice melts, the installation changes organically and eventually disappears, challenging notions about the permanence of memorials and public art.
